Information about the Trail of Broken Treaties
Within the Trail of Broken Treaties there are many different view points of people such as Suzan Shown Harjo, Russell Means, andmany other people who joined the cause.
Suzan Shown Harjo-
Suzan Shown Harjo was an activist for the 20 point position paper for the Native American protest "Trail of Broken Treaties" 1972. She was one of the main power houses that helped return millions of acres to the Native Americans, and who was able to get them to have a voice. Till this day she has been supportive towards her Native American culture and its people.
The two information given about the people above are the people that I heard most about during my studies of this subject. The reason why I chose them was because they showed the best amount of leadership good or bad, were able to bring the government to talk about their situation, and were known to become a great change in Native American history.
Russell Means-
Russell Means was an AIM activist leader who lead the Naitve Americans in the Trail of Broken Treaties. He was able to gather enought people to help him give a huge call out to the government by threatening to burn down the BIA building. Except stopped by a brave few the burning of the BIA building did not happen, but instead a truce declared by the government was called out. He was also known to be an actor. He died in the year 2012.
