The Trail of Broken Treaties, one of America's most memorable times in history concerning the Native Americans. Would it be good or would it be bad, some may ask? Maybe it's just a past time in history or just a simple mistake that America made that could be forgotten? Simple questions is what people think or say, but is it really the right answer? What we as people need to understand is that we are all equal in and out. In the end there is no race, or gender that is different we are all people, but with different culture. In the Trail of Broken Treaties the Native Americans all around our country come together in Washington D.C. to discuss about the problem with American government and the Native Americans, with the treatment they have been given for a hundred years or close too. The Natives planned this perfectly not only because of how it came to be during the time when the media just somewhat came into action, but also it was during the time of when the Presidential elections were still going on. Because of how the election was going on they were able to force the media to talk about this problem during debates and so forth that it was the talk of all the news. Even musicians made songs about this cause to help support them in their time of need. Except even with those who helped them on the media, many other people did not care, or tried to make them stop. Such as the police in Washington D.C. harassed the Natives staying at BIA building. Even Churches that said that would help them, turned their back on them when all of them started to arrive. Why they would do this would sometimes be under the law of the government, or because of how people would treat them if they gave the slightest bit of concern. Yet this did not waver the Natives yet, fired them up causing plans to retaliate back towards them. This idea came from a activist leader named Russell Means decide to nearly burn down the BIA building they were staying at to show they mean business. With this on the rise a women name Suzan Harjo came to help calm down the situation, and stop the madness. With the act of the BIA building almost burning down the President active decided to call a treaty and see what equilibrium point they could come up with, focusing on the Natives. Thus the harassment stopped and the 20 point position paper was heard. Coming to understanding and fixing the problems that America and the Natives had they decided to give millions of acres back to the Natives and give them back Independence. Because of all the brave people that fought for this they were able to obtain the lost land their ancestors always wanted back. This helped them gain their culture and pride back, but at the same time the scars of the past were there and still hurting.
